The leather manufacturing and trading industry is currently facing increasingly stringent requirements regarding environmental protection, occupational health and safety, and sustainable development. In addition to complying with legal regulations, manufacturing enterprises are required to establish effective management systems to meet the expectations of customers and international brands within the supply chain.

Against this backdrop, from June 9 to June 12, 2026, Simona Leather Company Limited implemented the ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 certification assessment program with the direct participation of the ARES Vietnam team of experts.

For the environmental management system, ARES Vietnam experts focused on reviewing how the company identifies, controls, and manages factors that may impact the environment during production.
Key assessment contents included:

  • Identification of environmental aspects and associated impacts arising at each stage of the leather production process.
  • Review of the use of raw materials, chemicals, adhesives, and solvents, as well as the control of wastewater, emissions, and leather waste generated during production.
  • Assessment of compliance with environmental protection regulations and customer requirements within the supply chain.
  • Review of documentation systems, procedures, and the actual level of implementation at the factory.

ISO 45001:2018 – Occupational Health and Safety Management System Review

For the occupational health and safety management system, the assessment focused on how the company controls factors that directly affect workers in the production environment.
Key assessment contents included:

  • Identification of hazards and analysis of occupational health and safety risks at each working position.
  • Control of risks arising from machinery operation and exposure to chemicals during manufacturing processes.
  • Monitoring of training activities and efforts to raise employee awareness on accident prevention and occupational disease prevention.
  • Verification of emergency response capabilities, incident investigation procedures, and mechanisms for continuous improvement of the occupational health and safety management system.

RESULTS AND SIGNIFICANCE

The ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 certification assessment program at Simona Leather Company Limited was completed on schedule, thanks to close coordination between the company’s responsible departments and the ARES Vietnam team of experts.

Based on the existing foundations, ARES Vietnam believes that Simona Leather will continue to enhance its management system, maintain its effective implementation, and progressively meet all requirements of ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 standards in the coming period.
