Within the certification audit program, the ARES Vietnam expert team focused on reviewing the suitability of the audit scope methodology, data collection and control methods, calculation bases, and traceability of information related to organizational greenhouse gas inventories and product carbon footprint quantification under actual operating conditions.

1. ISO 14064 – Organizational Greenhouse Gas Inventory and Emissions Management

For ISO 14064, the audit focused on reviewing how the company established, implemented, and controlled greenhouse gas inventory activities according to the defined organizational boundaries.

Key review points included:

• Defining organizational and reporting boundaries suitable for the company’s operational model
• Identifying direct emissions, energy indirect emissions, and other related emission sources within the inventory scope
• Verifying electricity, fuel, and raw material consumption data, along with input information used for emissions calculations
• Reviewing methods for data consolidation, management, storage, and control to ensure transparency and consistency in greenhouse gas reports
• Examining the linkage between data sources, calculation methodologies, and inventory results established by the company

Through this process, the audit team assessed the consistency between input data, quantification methods, and reporting results. As a result, the team recorded the company’s capability to meet requirements related to greenhouse gas inventory activities under the applied standards.

2. ISO 14067 – Product Carbon Footprint Quantification

For ISO 14067, the audit program concentrated on product carbon footprint quantification methods based on the product scope and calculation boundaries established by the company.

Key topics included:

• Determining the life cycle scope applied in product carbon footprint quantification
• Reviewing the allocation of emissions data across production stages and product-related components
• Assessing the basis for selecting emissions data, emission factors, and carbon calculation methodologies
• Checking the traceability of information sources and supporting evidence related to quantification results and product carbon footprint reports
• Evaluating the suitability between product characteristics, calculation scope, and the company’s data management methods

Alongside document and calculation reviews, the expert team also worked directly with related departments to observe how audit activities were implemented in practice, from data collection and information processing to coordination among responsible teams.
